FAQ
When and where are we having our photo session with you?
WHEN:
I prefer to shoot in the sunset, golden hour, when the beach is just beautiful and the sun glows in your hair. Sunrise can work too.
WHERE: Where is your favorite spot here on the island?, The beaches of course, or Old Baldy, or maybe on Federal road in the Maritime Forest on the Marsh side, by the Harbor and Marina.
OR If you have a spot that just is so special for your family I'm happy to photograph you there!
How can we secure our session (payment)?
I will expect payment in full before session start.
You could either pay in cash, Venmo or by bank transfer.
How many photos will we receive?
The photo packages include all the best, professionally edited photos from your session. You see your minimum amount listed under the session. But usually you will receive many many more than that!
You will have full printing rights and I will also provide a social media adjusted copy for your enjoyment.
When will we get our photos?
You will receive an online gallery link with all your photos within maximum 8 weeks (sometimes less depending on how busy the season are after your session.) The photographer always attempt to deliver asap.
You can then download all the photos from the gallery but also share them, choose your favorites, and also order prints via the photographer afterwards.
What happens if it rains?
If we have time before both parties leave the island, we will reschedule.
If not then we can choose from refunding the fee and try another time, OR shoot at an inside location, maybe at your BHI residency.
What should we wear?
Similar but not totally matching outfits is nice, pale and natural colors (white, sand, pale green, pale blue, browns) do wonderfully to harmonize with the BHI color palate.
Linen, cotton and flowy materials do wonderfully for this kind of photo session.
Avoid very vivid colors, big logos and brands on the clothes, and lots of patterns (well maybe gingham, paisley and seersucker is the exception to the rule haha).
I'd be happy to talk to you more about this in case you are unsure and want more advice.
We are not comfortable in front of a camera (or I am worried my child will act out)
Not to worry, this is what I do best; Making people feel as comfortable as they can in front of the camera and directing you what to do next.
With kids I tell parents to let me take the lead on guiding the kids. In fact it is usually better if parents take the back seat on directing the kids and just focus on enjoying the moment together.

Hi! I'm Alex the photographer and BHI lover <3
I have been coming to Bald Head since early 2000s, but since moving to Sweden in 2016 I sadly can only return about once a year. My husband and family have been coming to the Island at least 15 years before that. Currently we do not own on the island (used to at the Hammocks) but rent at least for one week or more every year.
I work as a professional photographer, who mainly shoot weddings, but also families, engagement couple photos, pregnancy and newborn sessions. I also accept a limited amount of branding photo assignments from creative women owned companies that I am proud to represent.
I will be on Bald Head Island July 2025 and would just love to shoot YOU and your loved ones on our mutual favorite spot in the world. What a gift to be able to give you and make sure you and your family preserve your time on the Bald Head when you leave on the ferry to become cherished mementos for generations to come.
In case all the slots book up (which is a risk from the inquiries I already received) I will also be in the triangle area (Durham, Chapel Hill NC part of July) in case you would like to book a session with me there!
